The purse trends this year are headed back to the basics: structure, leather, and monochromatic. I will personally miss the studs from last year, but I am willing to carry anything as long as it doesn’t have fringe. Here are the 10 purse style staples of 2014 over a range of prices, so you can look amazing while still able to pay rent.
I am not the biggest fan of the bucket bag. They seem almost like those string backpacks that athletes wear, just made out of nicer material. I also have a feeling that whatever falls may never be found again (like that one lost sock in the dryer.)

Elizabeth and James “Cynnie” Leather Crossbody Bag
Lulu Faux-Leather Bucket Backpack
Don’t call it a comeback! Color block is back in the game and it’s amazing. To break up the mostly monochromatic schemes of 2014, monochrome adds a little flavor to a bag while still keeping it professional. I’m a huge fan of the Fendi, but let’s be real, that one’s a pipe dream. For now.
Coach Bleecker Cooper Satchel
Betsey Johnson Faux Leather Tote
These little guys are the boldest of the trends this year. It’s nice that they’re itty bitty, or they’d be really overwhelming. Grab one of these and turn a bland outfit into something fresh, just don’t plan on being able to carry anything around but a credit card.
Christian Louboutin “Loubibow” Satin Clutch
Alice + Olivia Floral Print Acrylic Box Clutch
Natasha Couture “Watercolor” Clutch
Pantone showed us the way this year, with pastels being the focal colors of their 2014 Spring Color Report. I am a huge fan on mint green, whether it’s in my ice cream bowl or on my arm.
Alexander Wang “Marion Mini – Prisma” Leather Crossbody Bag
Forever 21 Iconic Envelope Crossbody
These bags are great: they’re are large enough to fit your laptop, but small enough to still be fashionable and mobile. Their extended strap is perfect for on the go. They also double as an adorable overnight bag, which is perfect. Who wants to do a walk of shame with a suitcase?
