For the past three years, I have provided coverage before, after, and during the Academy of Country Music Awards. Click here to check out my country coverage!
In 2015, I was chosen to be the lead CBSi producer to report live from The Academy of Country Music Awards in Dallas, TX to commemorate the show’s 50th anniversary. While there, I attended press conferences, conducted interviews, and provided coverage both before and during the broadcast from Cowboy Stadium.
The 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards
Most of the work I did for this year’s ACMs involved building up excitement for fans by preparing creative and unique articles including articles about fashion, the stars, and the background of the award show. “7 Reasons Why Eric Church Makes Us Say ‘Amen'” is a great example of how I approach articles from a fresh perspective. Combining fun information with witty titles, not only made this post clickable and shareable, it delivered on its promise—as opposed to many clickbait-style posts.
Miranda Lambert, who’s been a country giant for over a decade, is an artist that I—and the rest of America—am quite familiar with. In order to provide fun and, more importantly, fresh information about the country cutie, I put together “Miranda Lambert’s ACM Style Evolution.” For this piece, I researched each other her outfits, including the dress labels, jewelry designers, and shoe brands. I also innovated the combined background for a pair of photos which, not only provided fans with a closer look at the country juggernaut’s red carpet style, keeping the full images in 16:9 ratio allowed for an easier read and a better reading experience for consumers.
The 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards
For the first year ever, the 2015 ACM Awards were held in Dallas, TX at Cowboy
Stadium. As the only representative of the CBS Interactive editorial team on site, I provided live coverage from the event, including live performances, interviews with both talent and crew, and attended panels with the hosts. My top performing post of the 2015 ACMs was “10 Things You May Not Have Known About Miranda Lambert,” which I released the night of in conjunction with the live vote for the Entertainer of the Year Award. That piece’s unique views, much like Miranda Lambert and her awards, continue to tally up.
While I interviewed a slew of crew members responsible for one of the biggest nights
in music, my personal favorite was with Monique Long, the woman behind 25 years of entertainment fashion. In what was supposed to be a 20 minute sit-down, I spent over two hours with this charismatic and brilliant woman, picking her creative brain and hearing some truly incredible stories.
