There are cats, and then there are Internet cats. These little fellas skyrocketed to fame on Instagram and because of their weird quirks are the cutest felines on the planet. Not only do their owners share their pets with the world, they all bring attention to animal causes and encourage others to adopt cats. Who knows, you could save the life of a cat and become an Internet sensation!
Maru lives in Japan with his owner and clearly loves to play and sit in boxes. He just got a new sister this past year, named Hana, but like most celebrity siblings, has been a bit outshined by her big brother.
Nala was chosen at an animal shelter by her human because it was written in the stars. Well, actually written in a lick. Nala was immediately drawn to her and licked her face. After that, their fate together was sealed. Like many shelter cats, Nala had some breathing problems and infections, but now she is in perfect health. And look at those eyes!
Snoopy’s smooshy face drew him immediate fame. As an Exotic Shorthair that calls China home, he lives a very relaxing life. When he isn’t in pistachio commercials, his owner says he spends 17 hours a day sleeping. It’s a rough life as a celebrity cat.
7. Simon’s Cat
Simon is a charming and mischievous little devil that bothers his owner Simon. Simon, an English animator, has four real cats, but he’s most famous for his cat cartoons.
Princess Monster Truck (yes, that is her name), rose to fame last year. Her owner saved her from the mean streets of New York City. Her extended jaw gives her a distinct look, but in my opinion, she’s the perfect combination of scary and adorable.
Hamilton the HipsterCat is a true hipster. He was getting rescued before it was cool. His mustache is real and so are his opinions. I bet he drinks PBR instead of milk.
4. Colonel Meow
Colonel Meow was rescued by the Seattle Himalayan and Persian Society. Known best for his famous scowl, he is the perfect proof that cats are planning our demise. Facing many health issues last year, he underwent a difficult surgery and blood transfusion. He sadly passed away this past January. Colonel Meow truly deserves a full 21 Gun Salute.
Why Henri makes #3 is simple, actually, it may not be so simple at all. As the Internet’s deepest feline philosopher, Henri moves thousands of viewers with his interminable sense of ennui.
2. Lil Bub
Lil Bub is one lucky lady. She was found with a healthy feral litter in a tool shed in Indiana. She suffers from extreme dwarfism, which makes her essentially a perma-kitten. Her limbs are short, her body is long, she has extra toes, and her tongue permanently sticks out. And, she’s just about the cutest thing on the planet.
1. Tardar Sauce
You may know her as Grumpy Cat, but Tardar Sauce is, without a doubt, number one on this list. Anyone who says differently can GTFO. She has feline dwarfism as well. She may be known around the world in the form of memes, appearing on tv shows like American Idol, and being a prominent feature at SXSW, but to her human, her favorite thing is hiding in the curtains. And she’s my favorite thing.
