Currently, we humans sit comfortable atop the food chain. There are five trophic levels in our ecosystem: Level 1 is plants and algae, Level 2 are herbivores, Level 3 are omnivores, Level 4 are carnivores that eat other carnivores, and Level 5 are Apex predators—which have no predators.
Without our technology and superior thinking ability, we humans aren’t all we’re cracked up to be. Unlike actual Apex predators like tigers, crocodiles, and boa constrictors, we’re omnivores with an Apex predator-complex. Based on a variety of studies, humans score at a 2.21—right around anchovies and pigs.
What would happen in the animals decided it was time for a change?
